Dubai Festival City

Dubai Festival City is one of the most established destinations in Dubai. It offers a wide range of services including popular shops, restaurants, malls and many more. The Imagine Bay show features a complete fountain, laser, projection, and lighting display which is redesigned on a yearly basis. It is now a must-visit in Dubai.

As part of the 2021 upgrades, Procom was brought on board to assist with the upgrades of the lighting installation across the bay. The goal was to design and install a new floating lighting rig located on the water, in the middle of the bay as well as a series of vertical tower lightings around the perimeter.

Due to the nature of the installation, outdoor environmental factors were a challenge. The equipment is constantly exposed to high humidity, direct sunlight, and direct saltwater contact from the show fountains.

A 50m Eurotruss HD34 Truss rig was installed on a floating platform in the bay. The rig is supported on 7 legs with custom-made anti-corrosion base plates secured into the free-floating platform. 16 x 4m High T-Towers were installed along the premier of the bay to house the new lighting installation. 

The lighting installation consisted of 70 x Aquaray 500SBW’s, 46 x Flash88’s, and 8 x Flash288’s. The units were installed on the floating platform and T-Towers.

2 x MD125-230RCD were used to power up the floating structure, providing power distribution to the 50 x Aquaray500SBW lighting units on top of the rig. Underwater fiber and power lines supplied the platform with Power and DMX.
